Doing what I do best, writing code for clients on the other side of the planet. On the plus side, this means I tend to be a bit of a night owl, so when I see my little NOC display lighting up with traffic on the site, I can pay attention to it pretty closely….

Crypto wallet voyeurism
It’s always been interesting seeing people slap crypto wallets on web pages, social media, and generally pretty much everything. A weird passing interest of mine is to look at the wallets to see what they’ve held or are holding. The nifty thing about the entire crypto world, for most currencies at least, a truly interested…
Seems kinda rude
Been seeing traffic spikes like this fairly frequently. Here’s a screenshot of the log lol All of this was a span of seconds. Seems kinda rude bud, at the very least you could put a delay into your spam. What could this tiny blog have that you want so badly? Would make sense to spin…
An annoyance
To accompany the shenanigans this server has gone through, during a scheduled update, I found out that the service I worked on for a friend had a misconfiguration in its nginx config. Nginx is really cool sometimes, but man, when something goes wrong with it, it really goes lol. It took everything down for a…
DIY Ariel Rider X-Class Taillight mod!
Completed my first mod for the Ariel Rider. Designed and printed an adapter to use the taillights. The turn signals themselves are these guys off of Amazon, but I needed to repurpose the tube adapter to make sure that it could be mounted high enough to be visible. https://amzn.to/3wKMCqC Overall, pretty happy, but definitely not…
New contract!
Started working on a new contract, this client wants a web service that seems kinda redundant, but if he’s got the market for it – hopefully it does well. Is there a way to tell people that they want to build something that already exists, but still have them pay you for it? Such a…
Bought an e-bike!
So today, I took delivery of my first electric bike. An Ariel Rider X52. It’s unbelievable how much I love this thing. Cruising around on a pseudo-motorcycle at about 25mph is amazing. I even got a typical “motorcycle wave” from a guy on an actual motorcycle. Kinda blew my mind. It was cold as can…
project
Today I shipped out my first batch of prototypes for <REDACTED>. I dunno what they’re going to use them for, but they got all kinds of neat potential on both sides of the moral compass. One item could be described as a self-defense weapon, but could also be considered a utility item. Legal? Probably? I…
Joplin Sync Test
WordPress (and the internet as a whole) really is a unique beast, I had gotten a monthly summary of data usage from Cloudflare for activity on the page, I had completely forgotten to configure email alerts for things like comments. Opening up the WordPress dashboard showed me I was missing out on a bunch of…
A little disappointing
Apparently, my Joplin scraper crashed at one point and stopped posting. It looks like there was a power outage that restarted the raspberry pi it was running on and I must have forgotten to add it to cron. Oh well. More to come should be fixed now.
