Doing what I do best, writing code for clients on the other side of the planet.
On the plus side, this means I tend to be a bit of a night owl, so when I see my little NOC display lighting up with traffic on the site, I can pay attention to it pretty closely.
(This screenshot was taken from a web interface, hence the white, normally I’d just SSH into the box and view the logs directly, so avert your eyes fellow dark mode enthusiasts)
Looks like some anon out of Japan thought he’d take a stab at brute forcing.
Still an annoyance.
But it gave me an interesting idea, what if I just change around my .htaccess to forward the traffic to something like “meatspin.com”, “summonthensa.com” or even forward it to the ever infamous rickroll?
because come on, it’s really starting to feel like my wee little rant blog catches some weird traffic from people who truly never want to give me up. I had to write that, I couldn’t not do so.
It’s bot traffic, so getting a forward request will probably be ignored before it even processes it if the devs were worth their salt.
Their wordlist will probably run out anyway.
Gotta give them credit for persistence at least, gives the weird illusion of activity on this page that isn’t just me. I don’t roll really anything for SEO on here, so I just find it fascinating.
Anyhow, might be a project for another day. Gotta stay on task.
Sveiki, es gribeju zinat savu cenu.

One translate later…
>Hello, I would like to know your price.
Price for what? I have plenty of projects, what are you interested in?
Cena par ko? Man ir daudz projektu, kas jūs interesē?
